Adventure Awaits
My first proper adventure is set to begin at 4:30 today. It is at that time when a long travel day commences, my final destination being Playas del Coco, Guanacaste Province, Costa Rica. I’ll be away from home for approximately 15 days. Twelve of those days will be spent either on the beach or in the rain forest, perhaps scuba diving, rappelling, white water rafting, hiking, or catching...
The Year of Progress never ends
I’ll be on a beach in Costa Rica when this year ends, the Year of Progress for me, so I thought I’d recount some things now.
This year has taught me that every year should be the year of progress.
Business was good in 2009 but is shaping up to be great in 2010.
It was an unexpected invitation but I’m now an adjunct faculty member at a university, teaching Graphic Design...
I go through the gear that I’m taking with me to Costa Rica for the next two weeks.

I was sitting with a client going over the site and they were wondering why when they underlined the text and made it blue in the CMS it didn’t “become a link.”
Client, you’re fired. If I heard this I’d look for the nearest gun and shoot myself in the head.

I’ve always loved the type work on beer labels, especially the old-school beers. There’s been something of a revival with the explosion of micro breweries and craft beers out there. It’s pretty awesome to just walk down the beer aisle at the store to look for design inspiration… and then get too drunk to design.

My sister, Erin, finally has a blog. It only took me having several blogs for the last 9 years for her to get on the bandwagon.

I’m experimenting with a lifestream of sorts. I’m hoping to centralize my various internet presences here, as well as us it as a dump for travel reports from the road.
Travel Digital Camera
My new Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 is scheduled to arrive tomorrow and I can’t wait. Not only does this camera take beautiful shots, thanks in part to the wide-angle 25mm Leica lens, but it also shoots HD video. I’m not sure how the videos would look on a giant HD TV but I’ve seen their standard-def internet counterparts and the quality looks outstanding for a digital camera.
