Proofing

clientsfromhell:

I designed an invitation for a client who apparently felt that it was not their place to proofread. They sent me numerous emails explaining how unprofessional I was because I apparently don’t know how to spell (of course, the mistakes weren’t made by me).

I’m sure it’s going to be much less correction when the spelling of a basic English words is wright”.

This entry from the Clients from Hell blog sort of annoys me because I think it IS the designer’s place to proofread, at least where reasonable. Of course it’s not the designer’s job to proofread 100 pages of copy but for an invitation? C’mon. Any professional designer with any merit will proofread copy in situations like this 100% of the time. If you’re either too lazy or not professional enough to proof that copy, at least don’t have the audacity to complain about the client. Frankly, you’re both idiots.
